Have being working at the Railway Research Institute (known as CARS today) at subgrade earthwork research and construction technology since returning to China in September 1950.
Served as assistant researcher, deputy researcher, researcher and chief of the Railway Structure Institute subsequently.
Currently serving as the researcher and counselor to State Council.
Appointed one of the first members of the CAE in 1994.
And recruited as the chief expert of CARS in 2002.
He hosted the program for loess research in the entire network in the 1950s, proposed the principle of determining execution gradient close to loess structure and strength; presided over the program for pressure research on retaining walls, and proposed the approach of calculating pressure of the load retaining wall with the second sliding face, and the formula to identify the sliding face scope behind the wall under the impact of partial load.
The finding is adopted in standard design and published in the English edition of Science China in 1964.
As the deputy team leader of the soft soil foundation squat, he successfully adopted multiple measures to treat the soft soil defections for 30km section of excessive water during the construction of the Guiyang-Kunming Railway.

The successful treatment of the soft soil at the section of excessive water was a contribution on the scheduled launch of the Guiyang-Kunming Railway. He was invited to review the parade at Tiananmen Tower during the National Day celebration in 1966 as one of the two representatives of the railway sector.
The finding of his research program: Application Technology of Static Sounding was inducted into the criteria and awarded the 2nd Prize of National Scientific and Technological Advancement in 1985.
He was one of the main participants in the new technique applied in the Chengdu-Kunming Railway that was awarded the Special National l Scientific and Technological Prize in 1985.
He also hosted the testing/research of soft soil foundation treatment for the Duanmi Mine of the New Tanggu Port that went through the Tangshan Earthquake in 1976, and supervised over the soft soil foundation engineering for the parking apron in Shenzhen, successfully adopting sump well to accelerate the water drainage on big portions of sand cushions.
